Pleasant morning
Well, we survived our first night out. Okay, that’s a bit melodramatic. I said yesterday this is a really nice campground for an overnight stay: very easy to get to from the Interstate (three turns and less than a half mile), and easy parking. If you’re traveling by RV on I-68 and need to stop a night in Western Maryland, I don’t see how you could do much better. Full disclosure, I didn’t see a guest Wi-Fi network, but we didn’t ask if there is one. It was approaching 6pm by the time I checked, and I didn’t want to disturb the owner at his house just for something that wasn’t really important.
For water, we normally work off our fresh water tank instead of staying connected to a campground’s freshwater supply. For those that don’t know, that means we use their water to fill our tank, then disconnect and use the water pump. Sorry, non-campers, that’s probably not interesting, but I mention it because I ran into trouble filling the tank this morning. We were too far from the water supply to use the hose I typically use, so I had to bring in reinforcements. But, the expanding hose I wanted to use didn’t work. I mean water entered but wouldn’t leave. I’m thinking there’s something like a mud dauber inside; I’ll figure it out later. But it required more work and thinking than I expected this morning. Okay, boring camping details are over.
Barnie and I took an unexpectedly nice walk this morning. Instead of just walking around the campground, which isn’t very big, an entire lap is less than a mile, we turned onto the road leading to the campground. Since it’s so close to the Interstate, I wasn’t expecting a neighborhood, but there it was, a nice, dare I say, cute neighborhood. It was a real pleasure walking their streets. It had a mix of nicely kept older houses and new builds of various styles. Pleasant surprises like this are one of the many reasons we love traveling the country by RV.
