Flaming Gorge

Tuesday, we took a trip to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. It was a nearly 200-mile round trip but was completely worth it. The National Recreation Area begins about 20 miles south of the town of Green River, Wyoming, where we’re staying, but the really good stuff is another 40 or miles past that. We saw some cool animals and some great geological features.

On the way there, near Buckboard Marina, we got to see a pronghorn fairly close. We see a lot of them in the western states, but this one was usual for being alone and in a good spot for a photograph.

In the town of Manila, Utah, we stopped at the Flaming Gorge/ Ashley National Forest headquarters and got some really good advice on where to go to see some great sights. We also stopped at a cool little general store/ hardware store for refreshments.

Use the button below if you want to see more photos of those great sights.
